From teeth whitening to healthy diet, coconut oil is one of the most versatile oils to have. A lot of people use it on skin as well. In fact, coconut oil is also the most natural and simple makeup remover that you can have in your bathroom cabinet.

Not only is coconut oil safe to use when cleansing your face, but it is also quite effective and offers numerous benefits to your skin. It is anti-bacterial, anti-yeast, and also works as a great first-aid cream. Coconut oil also brings a cleaning effect, making it a good makeup remover.

Some people wonder if the miraculous oil clogs our pores. There are varying reports on whether coconut oil is comedogenic. Coconut oil can actually clog pores if it is poorly purified, saturated fatty acids in the oil can also lead to a dreaded breakout. So for makeup removal, only use organic, unrefined and cold-pressed coconut oil in its liquid form. As cold-pressed process doesn’t produce toxins that would impact the skin.

When you are using coconut oil as a cleansing oil, remember no abrasive washcloths or cotton pads are needed. Simply put the liquefied coconut oil in your palms, dip the oil on your finger tips and gently rub in a circular motion onto dry skin. Always pay special attention to heavy eye makeup. Once the makeup is sufficiently melted away, rinse your face with warm water and pat dry.

Remember, not all skin types are compatible with coconut oil, if you are not sure whether the oil is good for your skin, just introduce a little at a time. Though the oil is a great option for sensitive skin, it should not be your be-all and end-all skin product as coconut oil will not moisturize skin nor provide proteins that cater to the skin barrier.
