Makeup allows you to put your best face forward. Yet, it is only true if you are doing it right. Take a look at the below 4 makeup mistakes a lot of us are making that you don’t even know you are making. These common mistakes can make your makeup look messy and sloppy. It’s never too late to right your makeup mistakes, isn’t it?

#1 You are not prepping your skin before makeup

Applying makeup on dry skin is one of the biggest makeup mistakes. If you want better makeup, you need to prep it probably with skincare before applying foundation. Apply a moisturizer and primer all over your face, neck and along your hairline with clean hands. This helps to keep your skin hydrated, smooth out the texture and keep your foundation from settling into creases. Be sure you wait about 3 minutes before applying the primer to allow the moisturizer to be absorbed into your skin.

#2 Your foundation doesn’t match your skin tone

Wearing the wrong colour foundation is a major beauty blunder because it’s just so easy to spot the mistake. When your face is one colour and your neck is another, it literally looks like you are wearing a mask. How to choose the right shade of foundation? Choose a few colours that seem closest to your natural skin tone. Then simply swipe a sample over your jawline. The shade that blends seamlessly with your skin is the right foundation.

#3 You are not wiping off the mascara brush first

Most mascara brushes pick up a lot of extra product when you pull it from the tube – so much that if you don’t wipe the excess mascara off, your lashes will wind up getting clumpy, flaky or smudgy.  Make sure you wipe the excess off the wand on a clean tissue before application, leaving just enough on the brush for the mascara to do its job to prevent lashes from clumping and sticking together.

#4 Your under-eye concealer is too light

Using too light a shade of under-eye concealer, you will look ghostly and it will actually make the area stand out even more. Look out for an orange to yellow-based concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone, if you have blue-tinged and purplish dark circles. On the other hand, if you have brownish dark circles, go for a peach or an orange-based concealer.
