We all want people to say, “Your skin looks amazing!” Then, finding out everything we could about putting on foundation, such as how to pick out your perfect shade, what tools to use to avoid streaks and splotches, how to cover fine lines and acne, are crucial. Here are the tips and tricks everyone needs to know.

Prep your skin

Don’t skip prep your skin. Makeup has the tendency to settle into creases and crevices of dry skin, clean and moisturized skin is the key to making your skin glow. After cleansing with a gentle face wash, massage a lightweight moisturizer over your face. Let it sit for a few minutes to completely absorb the products into your skin. Otherwise, you might end up with streaky-looking makeup.

Right Formula

You can find there are a ton of different foundations on the market, that doesn’t mean every formula is fit for all skin types. If you have dry skin, choose a formula with the words like “sheer” or “hydrating” or “lightweight.” If you have acne-prone skin, you can go with the matte and full coverage formula.

Right shade

If you want to buy a new foundation, it is better to test a few shades in natural light. It will be easier for you to pick the right shade out. If you want the foundation match the shade with your neck, you can test it on your jawline or your chest. If you have difficulty to find a perfect one, you can buy a foundation in two shades: slightly darker than your skin for imperfections and slightly lighter to highlight your chin, cheekbones and the bridge of your nose.

Right tools

When it comes to the right tools for your foundation, you can look for rounded foundation brushes with synthetic hairs. It is fantastic for blending concealer over redness and imperfections on the chin and forehead. Or you can just apply foundation with your hands. It is also good to warm it up and press it into the skin as well.
