(1) Acne is for teenagers
Not only teenagers can suffer from acne, but adults of any age also can occur. Adult acne can be divided into 2 types. “Persistent acne” continues from teenage years and fails to clear and “late-onset acne” begins the late 20s to early 30s. In general, genetics, hormones, and stress play the roles in aggravating the condition of acne. Pregnancy or stop using birth control pills can lead to hormonal changes and develop adult acne.

Many factors can cause the development of acne. Acne is a disorder of the skin, which is composed of an oil-producing gland, hair follicle, and hair. Unclean skin may not a key factor. Generally, the oil-producing gland is affected by hormone levels. Excess oil production will make skin cells sticky to clog pores and lead to acne.
(3) Acne is contagious
Acne is not contagious and cannot spread from person to person. Whilst acne bacteria play a role in its development, it cannot be transmitted like most bacterial infections. However, you should avoid sharing towels or pillows with other people for general hygiene reasons.
(4) People with acne should avoid makeup
It is not a must to avoid makeup if you have acne. Many makeup products like foundation or concealer can conceal the acne and provide self-confidence. It is important to choose the right products for acne-prone and oily skin. The oil-free foundation, BB cream with high coverage or concealer contains tea tree oil are good options.
