We understand that it’s been a long day, and you’re dead tired, but let’s face it, sleeping with your makeup on is a horrible idea. Going to be bed without washing your face can bring irreversible harmful effects.
Many makeup products contain ingredients like silicones that block pores. In normal circumstances, the pores allow you to sweat and produce secrete sebum that moisturizes skin and removes dead skin cells and other irritants from our pores while you’re asleep, however if you leave your makeup on, the pores won’t be unable to release sebum to push out the impurities, and this may lead to visibly larger pores and acne overtime.
Sleeping in makeup product like highlighter can lead to dull, sallow, or parched skin because when the makeup residue get trapped in the pores with dead skin cells and oil, it suffocates the skin, overtime your skin will become looking dull and lifeless.
As you may already know, sleeping time is the time when your body regenerate and restore. As the largest organ of your body, skin never stop working, and it actually works actively while you are at rest. It repairs itself while we sleep, so it is important to take off your makeup at night to allow your skin breath, your pores to release sebum that rehydrates and protects your skin from free radicals in the air, and let the skin work properly.
Leaving makeup on overnight can also cause flakiness, unevenness, and dryness on skin. Dry skin makes wrinkles and impurities look more prominent than ever. If your skin continues to be neglected frequently, the facial lines will go as deep as like a scar on your face.
