6 types of perfume

Perfume is extremely broad and general, if we talk about it specifically, there are:

  1. Perfume (Parfum)
  2. Eau de Perfume (EDP)
  3. Eau de Toilette (EDT)
  4. Eau de Cologne (EDC)
  5. Eau Fraiche
  6. Perfumes Oils

Each of them contains a different percentage of fragrance concentration. The highest percentage is Parfum, which contains 20-30% fragrance concentration. So, it lasts the longest, allowing it to linger on your skin for 24 hours.

Perfume Oils also contain a 30% fragrance concentration. However, it’s not as common as Parfum because people might feel it oily. And it contains a certain percentage of essential oils, they might contain harmful fragrances even if the label is natural or organic.

Eau de Perfume is another longest perfume that most women preferred. It contains a 15-20% fragrance concentration. It’s quite potent and can last between 6- hours. The only difference between Parfum and EDP is the percentage of essential oils and their lasting power.

How to make perfume last longer?

If you are wearing EDP and wish to make it last longer, there are some hacks there. Firstly, you can moisturize your skin. Applying an unscented body oil before spritzing. The oilier your skin is, the better it holds scent.

The second tip is applying Vaseline on pulse points. The ointment holds the fragrance to your skin longer than if you were to spray it onto dry skin.

The last tip is to apply perfume right after taking a shower. The moisture on your skin will help lock in the scent.

What should you not do with perfume?

3 basic mistakes may ruin your perfume. If you purchase perfume, you do not want to waste any gorgeous drop of it.

One of the biggest mistakes we all make with perfume is rubbing them after spraying. Enzymes in our body may release and modify the smell of perfume.

Another common mistake is “over-perfuming”. Our brain gets used to the smells that surround us. From fried food to perfume, we quickly have the impression after a certain time that we do not “smell” these fragrances anymore. Therefore, you do not have to “over-spraying”. Your colleagues, friends and family can smell the gorgeous notes from you.

The last common mistake is storing your perfume incorrectly. Please do not store your perfume in a bathroom or any room with a hot temperature. Ideally, your perfume is better stored in a cool, dark place at 16 to 22 degrees.
