During the pandemic, wearing a face mask is an important way to protect ourselves from the spread of the virus. But masks can also cause problems on your skin, such as acne, peeling skin, rashes and itchiness. Here are the tips to help prevent skin problems under your mask.
Cleanse and moisturize your face twice a day
Using a mild and fragrance-free cleanser can help prevent the skin care problem. Wash your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips to apply cleanser. Try to avoid using the washcloth, sponge or anything other than your fingertips as those will be irritate your skin easily. And apply moisturizer after washing your face.
Skip the makeup
Makeup is easily to clog your pores and lead to breakouts when wearing a mask. So it is suggested not to wear makeup when you have your mask on. If makeup is a must, it is recommended to only use products with “non-comedogenic” or “won’t clog pores” label.
Wash your masks
If you are using the reusable mask, remember to wash your mask after each use. It helps remove oils and skin cells inside the mask to avoid the skin problems. Make sure to use a fragrance-free and gentle laundry detergent and follow the washing instructions on your reusable mask.
Take a 15-minute mask break
It is suggested to take a 15-minute mask break every 4 hours to save your skin. Make sure to remove your mask after washing your hands. And it is important to remove your mask in a safe place, such as when you are alone, at-home and stay away from people when it is outdoors.
