Workout brings you many skincare benefits. Exercise regularly can help your body to produce collagen and keep your skin firm. Cardio exercises also provide your skin oxygenated blood to make it glow. However, you should take more care of your skin after the workout. Sweat and dirt may cause clogged pores and breakouts.
(1) Cleanse your face ASAP
Once you have completed your workout, wash your face thoroughly with a mild facial cleanser. Cleanse your face as soon as possible to remove dirt, oil and sweat from the pores to prevent breakouts. Don’t use a facial cleanser with harsh ingredients or scrub to avoid stimulation of your skin. Cold water splash can also cool down and reduce the redness of your sensitive skin.
(2) Apply a gentle serum
Apply a gentle serum after face cleansing can help to soothe redness and calm flushed skin. Using a nurturing serum can activate the skin’s healing abilities and regenerate skin cells to give your skin a healthy glow. You can use an antioxidant serum containing natural ingredients and hyaluronic acid post-workout to keep your skin hydrated and strengthen the protective barrier of your skin.
(3) Apply a mild moisturizer
Moisturizing your skin is the most important part of post-workout skincare routine as you are losing lots of fluids during exercising. Apply a layer of lightweight and mild moisturizer to restore moisture for your skin. Avoid using too rich facial cream to prevent skin irritation and breakouts.
(4) Take a bath
Don’t forget your whole body is sweaty and sticky after the workout. Sweat helps to purge dirt and toxins from the pores. Bring along the travel size body wash and shampoo in your gym bag when you go for the workout. Take a shower to cleanse your body to avoid clogged pores. If you have time for a full bath, you are better to use antibacterial or antifungal body wash to prevent fungal acne.
